So, you’ve worked for 24 years in nearly every facet of the medical device industry. What’s next?
For John Ziobro, Principal Consultant in SpectraMedEx, the answer was, obvious: You start your own company. In June 2009, SpectraMedEx was created; John’s latest offering paired with the dozens of products he had developed throughout his career.
John was experienced in medical device product development to the extent that he could recite the many acronyms – QSR, 510(k), MDD, ISO 13485, etc. – In his sleep. His industry network, domestically and internationally, was broad and deep.
John’s background reads like a company flow chart: project engineer, product manager, production engineer, sales representative, division manager, international market manager, COO, and CEO. Yes, he’s held all these positions. It has been a long, exhilarating ride.
His most prominent joy now is helping medical device companies of all sizes and segments succeed using his three decades of industry experience. Besides direct product development, John counsels clients in quality systems, regulatory compliance, business planning, global distribution, and marketing strategy.

John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and despite being an Ohio native, calls the Badger State home. He’s been married to his wife, Marybeth, for more than 25 years. They have two children, who are growing up faster than either parent can comprehend. After a long career spent developing medical devices, John still considers them his proudest accomplishment.
